Awesome Stuff God Has Done - coming to Cowarts

This is written retroactively, but I want to remember the milestones where God has so marvelously touched our lives!

When Andy started BCF, he didn't initially want a church position, however, over time, we couldn't find a comfortable church home and it seemed like the logical action to try to find a church to serve.  It would help us fit in, help financially, and allow Andy to use his gifts.  At the time, money was tight, and I never bought expensive makeup, but while Andy was out of town I made an unusual trip to Parisian to buy a foundation brush and met up with former coworker Becky Cox.  She told me that Shon Brackin was leaving their church, was putting in his resignation that week and she suggested that Andy should submit his resume.  I told her that I wasn’t sure Andy would want to and she encouraged me to pursue it.  When I brought it up, Andy initially did not want to respond to the opportunity, but decided, “why not?”  We sent his cover letter and resume to the pastor at the church and it was received immediately after Shon resigned.  They called Andy to come to church the very next week after Shon left and voted to call him as Minister of Music and Youth on July 11, 2004.  This completely changed our life.   It allowed us to plant some roots, to build friendships, to get on more solid financial footing, to train and equip Andy for more efficient service to the Lord....on and on and on.  Incredibly difficult at times, but the dividends are still paying now (2011).........

(Another crazy confirmation of this process was that we listed Jim Carey, our former Music/Youth Minister at Orange Avenue Baptist Church as a reference for Andy, and Jim Carey had served as Minister of Music for the Pastor, Dr. Johnny Roberts, when they were at a previous church together. Wild!)
